Iktara

This song is a soulful Sufi rendition by famous Gazhal performer and personally one among my favourites -Kavitha Seth from the Bollywood movie 'Wake up Sid' directed by Ayan Mukherji. The movie itself is a beautiful creation projecting emotions unsaid. The movie has endeared Mumbai to its viewers through its astounding frames and direction.

This song is something I can relate to very much..

orey manva tu to bavra hai
o mind, you are little crazy

tu hi jaane tu kya sochta hai
only you know what you think

tu hi jaane tu kya sochta hai bavre
only you know what you think, o crazy

kyun dikhaye sapne tu sote jaagte
why are showing dreams in day and night

jo barse sapne boond boond
when the dreams pour down in drops

nainon ko moond moond
blocking eyes

nainon ko moond moond
filling eyes

jo barse sapne boond boond
when the dreams pour down in drops

nainon ko moond moond
covering eyes

kaise main chaloon
how could I walk

dekh na sakoon, anjaane raastein
I can't see the unknown paths

gunja sa hai koi iktara iktara, gunjasa hai koi iktara
some iktara (one string instrument) is playing/roaring/echoing

gunjasa hai koi iktara iktara, gunjasa hai koi iktara
some iktara (one string instrument) is playing/roaring/echoing

dheeme bole koi iktara iktara, dheeme bole koi iktara
some string instrument is saying it slowly, slowly some string instrument is saying

gunjasa hai koi iktara iktara, gunjasa hai koi iktara
some iktara (one string instrument) is playing/roaring/echoing

sun rahi hoon sudh budh khoke koi main kahani
losing my consciousness I am listening to some story

poori kahani hai kya kise hai pata
what is whole story who knows

main to kisiki hoke yeh bhi na jaani
becoming someone's I didn't know

ruth hai ye do pal ki ya rehgi sada
is it a season of moment or will it stay forever

kise hai pata kise hai pata
who knows? who knows?
